Most educational calculators count gestational age from the first day of the last menstrual period (LMP). Conception dating is useful when fertilization timing is known more precisely - for example some assisted-reproduction or carefully tracked cycles.
Cycle length adjusts LMP-based estimates: longer cycles often mean ovulation later than the classic day-14 sketch. Ultrasound dating from your clinician can override either method - always prefer clinical dating when it differs.
