Cup letters look absolute — “I’m a C” — but a letter is only the difference between bust and band on a chart. Move the band and the same breast volume wears a different letter. That is why 34C and 36C are not the same cup of milk, and why 34C / 32D / 36B can be sister sizes.
This page’s framing is Letter ≠ volume. The panel still prints a clear starting US label (with UK and EU tags), then refuses to pretend that letter is a universal volume unit.

Take underbust snug and level, just under the breast tissue. Take bust at the fullest point without compressing. Soft tissue shifts through the day — if two passes disagree, average them or remasure later. Use cm or inches; the panel converts internally for US/UK even bands and EU 5 cm steps.
Scene presets (EU shopper, US classic, between cups, sports start) load coherent pairs so you can read the orbit before editing.

US/UK band is underbust in inches rounded to the nearest even number. Cup difference is bust minus that band, in inches, mapped to a letter ladder. EU band is underbust in centimeters rounded up to a 5 cm step. The letter still means “inches of difference on this chart,” not a fixed milliliter volume.

The unique affordance is the sister-size orbit. Center chip is the calculated size. Neighbors move band ±2 inches and cup letter the opposite way so volume stays roughly constant: firmer band + larger letter, or looser band + smaller letter.

Example A — EU shopper preset. Underbust 75 cm, bust 90 cm. Nearest even US band is 30; cup Δ ≈ 5.4 in → DD on this chart → starting label about 30DD with EU tag on a 75 band. Sister orbit neighbors include 32D (looser band) and 28DDD (firmer band) — same volume story, different tension.
Load the EU shopper preset and tap 32D vs 28DDD. Letter changes; the orbit is teaching Letter ≠ volume, not “pick the biggest letter.”
Example B — US classic. Underbust 34 in, bust 37 in → band 34, cup Δ 3 in → C → 34C. Sisters 32D and 36B are the usual try-on pair when 34C’s band rides or the cup wrinkles.
Example C — After D alphabets. When the volume index lands on US DD/DDD, check the UK remap (DD/E). Shopping a UK brand with a US mental model is how “I always wear DD” becomes the wrong drawer label.

Through D, US and UK letters often match. After that, US may print DD/DDD while UK prints DD/E/F/FF for neighboring volumes. The alphabet remap strip shows the same volume index in both systems so a letter never pretends to be global.
EU tags in the panel reuse the volume index on an EU band as a planning label — brand charts still disagree. Letter ≠ volume applies across borders.

Two “34C” bras from different brands can feel unrelated: stretch, wire shape, gore height, and sister-size marketing differ. Sports bras compress; balconettes redistribute; t-shirt molds hide seams. Use the calculator for a starting tag and orbit, then verify with try-ons or a fitter.

A cup letter is not a fixed breast volume. It is the difference between bust and band on a given chart. 34C and 36C use the same letter but are different volumes; 34C, 32D, and 36B are sister sizes that aim for similar volume with different band tension.
Sister sizes keep cup volume roughly constant while the band moves by two inches (or one EU step family). Go down a band and up a cup letter for a firmer band; go up a band and down a cup letter for a looser band. The orbit in the panel shows those volume-constant neighbors.
